JAMES THATCHER
(1754 - 1844) Massachusetts physician who served prominently in the medical department of the Continental Army. Stationed in Ticonderoga in 1776. In 1777 he secretly inoculated Washington's army encamped at Morristown, N.J. and served as Chief Surgeon to several regiments. A.D.S. as town tax collector, 1p. 24mo., [Plymouth, Mass.], 1788, a document detailing taxes owed by Isaac Lothrop and a Mrs. Hobarth. Neatly signed, "James Thatcher, Collr." at bottom. Light toning with moderate foxing and folds, else very good. Along with a bold signature cut from a document. Show-through from adhesive on verso does not affect signature, light toning, good. Two pieces.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
