JAMES MADISON
(1751-1836) Fourth President of the United States considered the "Father of the Constitution", he authored the Federalist papers and sponsored the Bill of Rights. Partly-printed D.S. 1p. oblong folio vellum, Washington, Jan. 1, 1812, in which Madison grants Jonathan Harshman of Maryland a parcel of land "...lying between the Great Miami River and the Virginia Reservation...". Countersigned by Secretary of State and future President JAMES MONROE. Usual folds with light toning thereon, a small spindle hole at left margin, toning to edges, overall very good. From the B. T.
