Description:

JACK RUBY (1911 - 1967) Dallas nightclub owner who shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald following Oswald's assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Rare A.D.S. on the verso of Ruby's rare business card from his burlesque/strip bar "The Carousel", 4" x 2 1/2". [Dallas, ca. 1963] in pencil, a pass to his popular club: "Admit party any nite Jack Ruby". Ruby's card promotes The Carousel as "Southwest's Only Show-Bar Runways...Offering Sophisticated, Risque, Provocative, Delightful Entertainment - Your Host - Jack Ruby" The card is set into a swiveling panel with glass on both sides allowing the entire piece to be viewed. It is very attractively matted with a photo of Ruby at his desk with dancers flanking him, as well as a photo of Ruby in his cell - both images likely copies. Matted also is a variant Carousel Club card, though it is impossible to determine if it is a copy or original. On either side of Ruby's card are signed 8" x 10" b/w photographs of strippers CANDY BARR and KIM ATHAS who both worked the club. Barr's photo has come a bit loose and has slid behind the mat; a situation easily remedied. The entirety is framed in high quality Italian burled oak, all in fine condition. WITH: four signed photos of two other dancers who were employed at The Carousel, later copies of vintage photos, including JOY DALE (3) and TAMMIE TRUE (1). WITH: an 8" x 10" copy of a vintage image of Ruby on the stage at The Carousel. A fine grouping.
