Description:

JACK KEROUAC
(1922 - 1969) American novelist whose publication of On the Road made him the foremost figure of the Beat generation of the Fifties and Sixties. Fine and rare signed book, the softcover volume A Bibliography of Works by Jack Kerouac compiled by Ann Charters (New York: Phoenix Book Shop, 1967), first edition, 99pp. 8vo., a thoroughly researched bibliography with each entry cross-listed and a general index at the end. Kerouac inscribes on the first free endpaper: "For Tony from Brother Jack 9-25-67 Lowell", just two years before his death. With holograph corrections on five pages, possibly by Kerouac. Two small stains to cover and a couple of loose pages, very good. Very likely this volume was inscribed to Tony Sampas, the nephew of Kerouac's third and last wife Stella, Kerouac's close friend and drinking buddy, who ultimately became executor of Kerouac's estate.
