Description:

IRA GERSHWIN
(1896 - 1983) American librettist and lyricist, brother of composer George Gershwin and writer of the lyrics for dozens of songs, most notably in "Porgy and Bess". Superb vintage I.S.P. 8" x 10" sepia, an early image showing Ira with his brother George in a formal pose. Boldly inscribed at top: "For Rene Martin: My brother and I some 25 years ago. With all good wishes Ira Gershwin Beverly Hills, 1956". Fine.
