INTERVIEW OF A DUTCH SS SPY
A war date typed report on an interview conducted by the U.S. Army CIC (Counterintelligence Corps) of a Dutch SS officer named Hugo Lahaye, suspected of espionage activities. The report, 4pp. 4to., Weert, November 3, 1944, reads in part: '...1933 - Joined N.S.B. believed its ideology...1936...dropped membership...1940 - After occupation, rejoined N.S.B...1941 voluntarily joined Waffen SS and was inducted in SS Fuhrer Schule...1943 - Realized the Nazis were robbing Dutch and asked to leave...Sold some silver for Jewish people; was caught by the Sicherheitdiesnt...was promised all would be forgotten if he would join the SS at the front...assigned to SS Erstaz Bn Klagenfurth...March 1943...in the Viking Division...Dec. 1943...was assigned to Totenkopf Div...succeeded in obtaining a transfer to Holland...Since 20 July 1944, when assassination attempt of Hitler was foiled, all espionage, counterespionage and sabotage training was controlled by the SS...Subject in describing the training undertaken by agents...consisted of thorough teaching of explosives, demolition, etc...also instructed in the manner of performance of American and English Police...' Much more. Last page trimmed at the bottom with adhesive residue on the verso, minor scattered stains throughout.
