Lot 193
193. INDIAN TERRITORY CONFEDERATE SOLDIER'S DEATH CERTIFICATE A rare war-date partly-printed Confederate document, 1p. folio on adversity paper, a death certificate for Pvt. John E. Flowers, Co. A, 19th Arkansas Infantry, Fort McCulloch, C. N. [Cherokee Nation or Indian Territory, Oklahoma], June 10, 1862 who died of illness on April 15, 1862 near Muddy Boggy, C. N. Flowers is due his pay from October 1861, but his account owes the Confederate government twenty-seven dollars for clothing. Approved by the regiment's founder, Col. Charles L. Dawson on verso. No doubt Flowers fought with the regiment at the battle of Pea Ridge, one of the Western theatre's most epic battles. Removed from a ledger book with a quite ragged left margin as a result, costing some text, ink bleeding at top right corner of verso, just good. 250 - 350
