HERMANN GOERING
(1893 - 1946) German politician who began his career as an ace in World War I, rose to become Hitler's right-hand man and head of the Luftwaffe, finally captured and committed suicide on the eve of his execution. Rare D.S. "Goering", 1p. large 4to., Berlin, Jan 3, 1945 [marked in error "1944"], an appointment of the highest ranking Generalrichter (judge with the rank of general) for the Luftwaffe, the last Luftwaffe appointment of its type, issued to Dr. Manfred Roeder. Additionally signed with a rubber stamp by Adolf Hitler, who used the stamp only following the bomb attempt on his life, for the period December 1944 to January 1945. Files holes at left margin
