Description:

HERMANN GOERING'S TROPHY PLAQUE FOR TENNIS! A superb and extremely unusual piece, Hermann Goering's enormous silver-plated presentation platter measuring 14 3/4" in diameter, honoring his win in Men's Doubles tennis, 1939. Housed in the original red linen presentation case, this heavy platter features an engraving of the German eagle carrying a swastika in his talons, beneath which, in classic art deco lettering, it honors the "Generalfeldmarschall - Herausforderungspreis - Im Herren-Doppel-Spiel - 1939". "Herausforderungspreis" translates into "Challenger Prize". The platter is in fine condition, with just one miniscule speck of loss of silver plate, measuring no more than 1mm. Presentation box features a velvet and silk lining, and is imprinted with the manufacturer Werkstatt H. Zeinter of Berlin. Lightly worn on the outside, cover detached, yet nonetheless good condition. An impressive original artifact .
