Description:

HERMANN FEGELEIN PRESENTATION CIGAR CUTTER
HERMANN FEGELEIN (1906-1945) Nazi military leader and SS-Gruppenfuhrer, a Knight's Cross winner with Oak Leaves. Fegelein married Eva Braun's sister and served as liaison between Hitler and Himmler, but in the closing days of the war was caught attempting to flee and was summarily executed. A rare Fegelein personal effect, his own engraved cigar cutter cutter in the form of a racing horse's head, engraved to him as leader of the SS Equestrian School. The 5.75 in. long cutter with unidentified hallmarks (no purity stamp but very likely silver), is cast in the shape of a running horse's head with bridle, trailed by a prize-winner's laurel leaves. The horse's head is carefully engraved: 'SS Haupt Reits[hule] Munchen H[ermann] F[egelein]' The action of the cutter itself is a bit sticky requiring a bit of lubrication and alignment, else very good. From a 40+ year old collection. Fegelein became a leader of the leading SS equestrian group, and was in charge of preparation for the equestrian events of the Berlin Olympic Games in 1936.
