Description:

HEINRICH HIMMLER
(1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the Gestapo placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremburg. HIMMLER PLANS LECTURES ON ‘MUSIC AND RACE', AND ANTICIPATES RESISTANCE. Important T.L.S. 1p. oblong 8vo., Munich, Sept. 26, 1927, one of his earliest letters and notable for its reference to the Nazi association of ‘Music and Race', sent on NSDAP letterhead to Anton Allwein in Munich regarding an upcoming lecture and anticipating opposition to it. In part: ‘…I would like to confirm in writing your speaking the evening of October 19th promised for the Westend section, with the topic of ‘Music and Race'…I definitely expect to hold two presentations…in urgent cases, if I am prevented so, I would ask for a reschedule…'. Boldly signed at the conclusion with NSDAP stamp somewhat obscuring signature. In 1926, Hitler gave six speeches at the Munich Opera House. According to ‘Traces of Evil', he spoke at a closed general assembly session of the NSDAP Section Nauhausen, at which 56 individuals were present. After Hitler's speech of about 20 minutes, Anton Allwein (1864-1931) spoke. Allwein studied at the Ludwig-Maximillian University in 1885-1886, but little else is known of him. Clearly, he was an early proponent of harnessing the power of music in support of racial discrimination, a movement pioneered by musician Richard Eichenaur (1893-1956), who worked in the Race and Settlement Main Office from 1932-1933 and was a recipient of the SS Totenkopf ring.
