Description:

HEINRICH HIMMLER'S SPEECH TO THE "REGIMENT NORDLAND"
(1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the Gestapo placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremburg. Excessively rare signed typed speech text, "Im Kampf um die Nationalsozialistische idee" [ "In the battle for the National Socialist idea"], given to the Danish "Nordland Regiment" upon its formal creation on April 7, 1941. The ornately prepared speech, signed, "H Himmler 7.VI 1941" consists of seven loose leaves of heavy stock paper bound with red and white cord and laid into a brown stock covering. The sheets are emblazoned with Teutonic/Nordic symbols: the cover shows the sword-holding arm of a Teutonic knight rising out of fire, the Nazi eagle device is stamped throughout, and the document finishes with a runic-stamped horn. Himmler gave his speech to the "racially acceptable" Norwegian SS volunteers before they were to go fight on the Russian front. In part: "...We also point expressly in our program that we want to obtain that cooperation under the swastika, the symbol of the common blood... these words of mine emphasize especially that the individual members of a clan stand together to struggle with and for each other...". Later in 1941, the Nordland Regiment would be incorporated into the feared "Wiking Division" of the Waffen-SS, and the division progressed from a motorized infantry division to a Panzer division, serving on the Eastern Front during World War II. Fine.
