Description:

HEINRICH HIMMLER
(1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the Gestapo placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremburg. Signed book, Rumanische Palette by Anton Count Knyphausen (Berlin: Im Deutschen Verlag, 1942), inscribed to Himmler on the title "M. Himmler - a present from Heini", and signed by Himmler on the flyleaf: "To my dear mommy on the 3.VII.1942", signed "Puggi", a childhood nickname. Rumanische Palette is an illustrated survey of Romanian history, culture, and economics, past and present. In 1942, Romania was declared an Axis ally and Knyphausen declared: "The Iron Guard is no less anti-Semitic than National Socialism". Covers a bit warped with some toning and warping on pages within, overall very good condition, with a fine, bold inscription.
