Description:

HEINRICH HIMMLER
(1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the Gestapo placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremburg. T.L.S. "H. Himmler", 1p. oblong 4to. on "Der Reichsfürher=SS" letterhead, Berlin, April 8, 1940 in German to "Comrade Tengelmann!" thanking him for his letter and adding that "the brief information about Poland was very interesting. I look forward to your future success of your efforts...". Himmler's correspondent may be Ernst Tengelmann, a German industrialist prominent in the Ruhr Valley. He was an early supporter of the German People's Party and participated in the Secret Meeting of Feb. 20, 1933 between Hitler and about 20 to 25 major industrialists who helped finance the Nazi election efforts in the election of March 5, 1933. Partial separations at folds, one just grazing the top of the "H" in "Himmler", else very good.
