Description:

Third Reich Heer officer's dagger, 10 ¼" blade, 14 ¾" overall, with a white celluloid grip secured to the tang by a circular steel pommel encircled with an oak leaf motif, showing some dark patina to the base but otherwise in good condition. The crossguard depicts a national eagle with spread wings, with scrollwork at the ends of the quillions, and an oak leaf pattern on the ferrule. All detail here is crisp, with a few minute casting bubbles away from the central motif and some tarnish to the scroll ends. The ferrule shows some oxidation. The nickel-finish blade bears the deeply-etched “knight” maker's mark of the firm WKC of Solingen on the reverse ricasso. The blade shows very light run marks and a dusting of dark oxidation, with no apparent pitting. The dagger is housed in a pebbled steel scabbard with two suspension loops secured by oak leaf-patterned bands, showing oxidation and finish loss overall, with a shallow, almost imperceptible dent just below the bottom band. In very good condition overall.
