Description:

HANS H. LAMMERS
(1879 - 1962) Minister and Chief of the Reich Chancellery, ordered arrested by Hitler in the final days, and ultimately sentenced to twenty years imprisonment for war crimes. Good content T.L.S. on "Der Reichsminister und Chef der Reichskanzlei" letterhead, 2pp. 4to., Berlin, May 4, 1939 to Josef Burckel (1895-1944), Gauleiter of Vienna who promoted anti-Jewish decrees and seized Jewish property. Not completely translated but Lammers makes reference the fact that Hitler will make a decision as to the final disposition of artworks seized (presumably from Jews) in Austria which will likely be distributed to smaller museums in Austria. An art dealer named Haberstock will sort through the materials and appraise their value. Files holes at left margin, docketed, else very good.
