Description:

GERMAN M35 DOUBLE DECAL CAMO HELMET
A fine German M35 double decal helmet painted in a three color camouflage pattern, showing a distinctive pattern of three splotchy multi-colored stripes of two or three colors traversing the helmet from front to back, all hand-painted with a brush, with the background showing the typical post 1940 green-gray overpaint, inside of shell still showing the original green paint from it's original issue format. The finish appears to possibly be coated with a protective covering of some type. The wear to the rim and crown, as well as rust and corrosion marks showing through all layers of paint, indicating the age factors appeared long after this camouflaged paint scheme was added. The Army national eagle clutching a swastika is visible and painted around on the left, while a German tricolor shield is painted over and barely visible under the camo paint on the right. The interior showing the original M35 liner in aluminum and original M35 leather chin strap with aluminum buckle and rivets. Liner rivets are tight and set deep within the brushed on camo overcoats. In our estimation, the leather has been replaced at some point, but looks to be of period production. Liner is stamped with a size marking of '59', and five liner fingers cinched with typical liner string. Rare, and in overall very good condition with a striking camo paint scheme.
