Description:

GERMAN ARMY OFFICER''S SWORD BY WKC
Imperial or Weimar-era saber, 29" blade, 34" overall, as carried by army officers. It features an unadorned hilt of nickel silver with a plain dove''s head-style pommel, a swelled hand guard, and a full backstrap with tabs. The grip is of black celluloid wrapped with three strands of braided brass wire. The metal fittings show some minor tarnish, and the wire wrapping of the grip is loose and broken in two places. An officer''s portapee of brainded silver bullion and dull green leather is attached at the hilt, showing cracking and minor breakage to the leather in spots, but otherwise intact. The ricasso bears the mark of Solingen manufacturer WKC, a knight''s helm over those initials. The blade is unengraved and unsharpened, and remains bright over most of its length, barring some slight run marks, and some minor oxidation and residue from the scabbard near the tip. The scabbard is of wood covered with black leather, with nickel silver fittings at the throat and drag, the former featuring a single suspension ring. The wood appears to be cracked in one area beneath the leather, and the fittings show a similar patina as the hilt. Very good overall.
