Description:

GEORGE S. PATTON
(1885 - 1945) "Old Blood and Guts" was one of the finest tank commanders in history, rolling his forces through Tunisia, Sicily, France and Germany until halted at the Rhine. T.L.S. "G S Patton Jr." as Lieutenant General, 1p. 4to., "Headquarters Third Army United States Army", Nov. 12, 1944 to Terrance Longacre of Los Angeles. A month before the climactic Battle of the Bulge, Patton answers some curious fan mail from back home: "Thank you very much for your letter which I appreciate. However, I do not believe I can very well join my own Tank Corps. I am, however, beholden to you for the offer...". Sadly, we do not know the nature of the Longacre's offer. Usual folds, else fine condition. From the B. T. Fredericks Collection.
