(1733 - 1798) American lawyer and revolutionary leader, a member of the Continental Congress and a Signer of the Declaration of Independence, instrumental in having Delaware become the first state to ratify the Constitution. Fine content war-date A.D.S. as Speaker of the Delaware House of Assembly, 1p. 4to., New Castle, Dec. 20, 1777, a resolution adopted to urgently raise funds following the British landing at the head of the Chesapeake Bay and the pitched battle at Cooch's Bridge as the British marched towards Philadelphia. In part: '...Resolved that the Vice-President or Commander in Chief be impowered to draw for and apply the Ballance of Ten Thousand Pounds emitted for Support of the State by an Act...for printing and emitting Fifteen Thousand Pounds in Bills of Credit of this State, to be let out on Loan...and for providing a Fund for sinking the same...towards the Discharge of the Debts due to the Militia heretofore called out...' Read concurs and adds his bold signature at bottom. A broad damp stain appears at right affecting the text which still remains entirely legible, else every good.

International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
