(1924 - 2018) Forty-first President of the United States who ordered the attack on Iraq to liberate Kuwait. FOLLOWING REAGAN SHOOTING, BUSH REMAINS FEARLESS Fine content T.L.S. as Vice President on official letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, Apr. 13, 1981 to billionaire banker J. Knox McConnell. On March 30, 1981 John Hinckley, Jr. seriously wounded President Ronald Reagan outside the Washington Hilton Hotel. Reagan was released twelve days later, but did not return to the White House until April 25. In this letter, Vice President George Bush, addresses public perceptions of the president's and his own visibility. In part: '...Your expressions of concern are very much appreciated. I do not think it a good idea either for myself of [sic, or] President Reagan to be seen to be afraid to go out in public, although you can be sure that we will follow all necessary security measures....' Bush mentions a mutual friend, and thoughtfully concludes: '...Thanks also for the bottle of bourbon you sent...How very thoughtful of you...' Fine condition.

Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
