GEORGE G. MEADE
(1815 - 1872) Union major general who commanded brilliantly at Gettysburg, leading to a Union victory and the turning point of the Civil War. His signature "Geo. G. Meade" on a small slip above his rank "Major General Commanding." and "The Victor of Gettysburg", both in another hand. Matted and framed beneath an enormous (12 x 9 1/2" ) mounted albumen photograph of Meade in 1866 seated at a card table posing with his son, George U. Meade together with other veterans of the battle, C.D. Emory, E.P. Dorr, Craig Biddle, Harrison Smith, and F. Markoe Bache. Overall the albumen is quite clean, bearing a contemporary trim at top to accommodate a prior framing, signature bears light spotting, else fine but not examined out of frame.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
