A group of three items by prominent French generals, includes: FRANCOIS-MARIE D'ABOVILLE (1730-1817) French general who, as a colonel, fought in the American Revolutionary War, taking part in the Battle of Yorktown and surrender of Cornwallis. Later served in Battle of Valmy and War of the First Coalition. A.N.S. at the conclusion of a manuscript L.S. of ENNEMOND BONNARD, 2pp. legal folio, Jan. 18, 1795, regarding military matters. D'Aboville adds his endorsement, signing ‘F. M. d'Aboville'. Bonnard (1756-1819) French Brigadier General who participated in numerous campaigns during the Napoleonic Wars, including Fleurus, Duren, Valenciennes, Maestricht and under Kleber at the crossing of the Rhine. Awarded Knight of St. Louis for his service. Fine condition. WITH: ETIENNE EUSTACHE BRUIX (1759-1805) French admiral and Minister of the Navy. Manuscript D.S. signed with initials ‘E.B.' 2pp. legal folio, Paris, May 9, 1798, a report on his Naval letterhead regarding regarding military matters. Foxing throughout. WITH: GEORGES JOSEPH DUFOUR (1758-1820) French general who fought at the Battles of Neerwinden and Handschuhsheim. Wounded and captured by the Austrian army during the latter but returned to fight until 1809. A.L.S. ‘Dufour' 2pp. legal folio, Bourgen, Sept. 10, 1802, on his letterhead as Commander of the 21st Division to the Minister of War, Jean-Francois Aime Dejean, sending a report. Dejean (1749-1824) was a military officer and Minister of War from 1802-1809, after which he was named a senator by Napoleon. Toned bottom margin, otherwise very good.
