Three items by prominent French generals, includes: ANTOINE-FRANCOIS, COMTE ANDREOSSY (1761-1828) French general who served under Napoleon, commanding the bridging train of the Army of Italy, also during the Siege of Mantua. Later an assistant to Louis Alexandre Berthier. A.L.S. ‘F. Andreossy' 1p. 4to., Bonay, Feb. 15, 1798, to Contre-amiral Jean-Baptiste Raymond de Lacrosse, seeking information about their meeting in Dunkerque after he leaves for Holland, and other military matters; ETIENNE RADET (1762-1825) French general, best remembered for having led the troops sent by Napoleon to imprison Pope Pius VII in 1809. Scarce manuscript L.S. ‘Radet' 2pp. 4to., Milan, Feb. 25, 1805, on his ‘Inspection General' letterhead as commander of the Gendarmarie Imperiale to a general administrator of the forests regarding an appointment; and JACQUES-FRANCOIS DE MENOU (1750-1810) French general, commanded the five divisions of l'Armee d'Orient in Napoleon's bid for Egypt, eventually surrendering to the British at Alexandria and returning to them the Rosetta Stone. A.L. (unsigned) 1p. legal folio, June 10, 1791, to M. de Moreton regarding a judgment. Overall very good condition.
