Description:

GEN. OMAR BRADLEY'S FIVE-STAR GENERAL'S SHOULDER STRAP STARS
OMAR BRADLEY (1893-1981) U.S. five-star general and the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Military. Bradley commanded the largest body of American soldiers ever to serve under a single commander in World War II. A great set of relics from Bradley's military career, two sets of five stars worn by Bradley on his uniform's shoulder straps, ca. 1970s to 1980s. The stars, arranged in a circle about 1 1/8 in. in diameter, individually have a dual clutch and a screw and post, indicating they originated from two different sets, but are otherwise identical. The stars are set into a ca. 1990 frame with a photo of Bradley showing him wearing a similar set, with a period engraved plaque. A copy of a 1989 letter of provenance from collector Peter Vaughn on 'Cleveland Grays' letterhead states that he acquired the stars at the ASMIC Show on Aug. 20, 1986 from 'Col.Williamson (Ret.) living in Midland Tx. Col. Williamson received these stars directly from General Bradley some time in the middle 1970's prior to the general's death...' A great piece, nicely presented.
