Description:

FRIEDRICH WILHELM VON STEUBEN
A.L.S. in French, 1p., 4to., Fort Plain, Sept. 8, New York, [ca. 1794], to William North, his wartime aide-de-camp and heir, to whom the bachelor general left half his American property. A charming letter, saying that North must stay with Mr. Duane (the Mayor of New York), speaking of a proposed trip to the German Flats, and mentioning Peter Schuyler. After Steuben's death, North married Mary Duane. Light toning and minor foxing, else very good.
