FRANCIS HOPKINSON
Signer of the Declaration of Independence, active in pre-Revolutionary agitation and had an important part in designing the American flag. Manuscript D.S. "Frans Hopkinson", 1p. 4to., [n.p.], July 11, 1780, an important United States Revolutionary War Loan Office financial document listing the number and denominations of various "Bills on Spain & France", certificates made out for America's various states during the Revolutionary War period. With integral address leaf addressed to Thomas Harwood, United States Commissary of Loans for Maryland. The loan certificate denominations and the number of certificates listed by Hopkinson are quite large at 100, 300, 500 etc. and are apparently listing certificates "No. 1" for each denomination grouping totaling to 5,000! A couple of minor repairs to edges, wax seal tear upon opening is restored, affecting a few notations. Handsomely matted with a biographical page and portrait engraving and set into a fine gilt frame.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
