Fine content Confederate soldier's letter, an A.L.S. "G. H. Hash" 2pp. 8vo., Tulloma, Tenn., Apr. 2, 1863 writing to his brother and sister, in part; "...I went before the board of examination a few days ago, for promotion but have never heard the result. I will learn in a few days. Col. Hughes has not returned yet I am in command of the regt. about half of the time... There were 800 Yankees past [sic] by here yesterday. They were captured below here by Gen. Forrest.... there has been several desertion[s] in our Regt. since you were here. T. A. Dulany & William M. Whistes walked off the other day without leave. I am very sorry that men will act that way when they know they will be punished when taken..." Usual folds, light toning from dampstain, else very good.
