820. HENRY FORD (1863 - 1947) American automobile manufacturer and founder of the Ford Motor Company, his use of the assembly line revolutionized the industry. Fine S.P. "Henry Ford", 10" x 8" b/w, showing Ford with Lord Northcliffe and a British contingent viewing a Fordson tractor in a field in Dearborn, October 16, 1917. Signed by Ford beneath the tractor's right rear wheel with only fair contrast, else fine. In an effort to boost British farm output, the British government had asked Ford to manufacture tractors at Dearborn for export to the U.K. Ford agreed, committing to send the first 6,000 tractors. In October, 1917 Northcliffe came to Dearborn to examine the progress made in the tractor manufacture. $800 - 1,200
