FIELD MARSHALS AND GRAND ADMIRALS OF THE THIRD REICH An exceptional and rare grouping of signed items, largely photographs, of all twenty-eight German Field Marshals and Grand Admirals to be appointed to those ranks and receive their prestigious batons from the hands of Fuhrer Adolf Hitler. Gustav Marsch, Quartermaster of the Mountain Troops who supplied four million men with supplies; KARL DONITZ (1891-1980), D.S. 1p. 4to., [n.p.], 1974, a typed souvenir copy of Donitz's speech upon assuming the leadership of Germany following Hitler's death, signed at bottom; FRIEDRICH VON PAULUS (1890-1957), war-date D.S. , 1p. 4to., ìRussiaî, Dec. 9, 1942 (the start of the battle of Stalingrad), awarding the clasp to the Iron Cross, First Class to Lt. Col. Dr. Otto Beck. File holes, else very good; PAUL EWALD VON KLEIST (1881-1954), war-date D.S., 1p. 4to., [n.p.], Apr. 20, 1942, a list of 18 men to be awarded the War Cross, 2nd Class signed in indelible pencil at bottom; MAXIMILIAN REICHSFREIHERR VON WEICHS (1881-1954) S.P. 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" b/w, a chest, up pose in uniform, boldly signed with rank at bottom; ERNST BUSCH (1885-1945) S.P., 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" b/w, a chest, up pose in uniform, boldly signed; WOLFRAM FREIHERR VON RICHTOFEN (1895-1945), S.P., 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" b/w, a chest, up pose in uniform, boldly signed; WALTHER MODEL (1891-1945), war-date A.L.S. , 2p. oblong 8vo., northern Ukraine, May 4, 1944, in part: "...This promotion only shows when we will be used, and for what again. Right now there is plenty of work, especially with the new staff that needs quite an overhaul...As replacement for Adjutant Hojadon, who was killed during an air attack, General Harpe will come to us...", fine condition, with envelope; FERDINAND SCHOERNER (1892-1973), S.P. 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" b/w, a chest, up pose in uniform, boldly signed on the larger mat; and ROBERT RITTER VON GREIM (1892-1945), partly-printed D.S. 1p. large 4to., Berlin, Dec. 11, 1937, apparently an award or promotion. 28 pieces, in overall fine condition. Presented in a maroon cloth-covered album with reproduction Iron Cross with Oak Leaves medal and ribbon inset into the front cover. Again, this is a most difficult collection to assemble, especially with the large percentage of signed photographs included, and bearing in mind that many of the recipients. $10,000 - 12,000
