Description:

FALLSCHIRMJAGER GENERALS STUDENT AND HEIDRICH
Fine association war-date signed document, 2pp. 4to., [n.p.], Mar. 3, 1943, issued by Fallschirmjager Rgt. 1, a fitness report concerning Oberleutnant Herbert Abratis, signed by an unidentified major and battalion commander. On the verso, an Oberstleutnant and Regimental Leader also praises Abratis. This is followed a signed typed endorsement by Luftwaffe Gen. RICHARD HEIDRICH (1896–1947), a paratroop general and recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords, taken prisoner on 3 May 1945 and released in July 1947. Heidrich states that Abratis is 'unrestrictedly suitable for promotion'. This endorsement is followed by an A.E.S. of Luftwaffe Gen. KURT STUDENT (1890- 1978), the commander of the world's first airborne division who took the 'impregnable' Eben Emael, and later undertook the invasion of Crete. Student likewise approves further promotion. Light, even toning, file holes in the blank margin, still very good.
