Description:

EZRA POUND
(1885 - 1972) American poet, editor and critic and a major influence on Joyce, Eliot, Hemingway and Frost. Typically irate T.L. (unsigned), 1p. 4to., Rapallo, Aug. 31, 1928, in full: "Kindly go to hell, or look up the matter in an English 'Who's Who', if the murkn [American] Whoo ZOO is written by illiterates. re/yrs. 9th. inst.". In 1928, having permanently taken residence in Italy, Pound published A Draft of the Cantos 17-27 and his Selected Poems. It is unclear to whom this barb was directed, but possibly the editor of Forum: A Magazine of Controversy, with whom Pound corresponded on several occasions. Rusted paper clip impression at top left, chipping to edges, overall very good condition. Worthy of further research.
