(1663 - 1736) Austrian general who, with Marlborough won the battle of Blenheim, saved Turin and expelled the French from Italy, defeated the Turks (1716-18) and again commanded the Austrians against the French in 1734. Considered one of the greatest generals in history, noted especially for his leadership and tactical brilliance. Rare and beautiful manuscript D.S. "Eugene de Savoy", 1p. legal folio, Milan, Feb. 25, 1708, to Mr. Praves, head of the Revenue Department of the Grand Duchy of Milan. In Italian, in part: "...With reference to our release of funds dated the 12th of this month, we hereby request that you order the Treasurer-General, Count Don Marcello Ayroldo, to debit the State Treasury in the amount of 1,472 scundi to be paid to the officials of the Bursar's Office...". Boldly signed and fine.
