(1774-1853) Brigadier general of cavalry under Napoleon, participated in Russian Campaign. Brief A.L.S. in French, 1p. 12mo., [n.p., n.d.], acknowledging the valor of a colonel and "...the brave officers...". Trimmed at top with no loss of content. Along with an interesting letter from the HMS Wasp, which saw battle during the War of 1812, 1p. legal folio, Barbados, Nov. 3, 1834, requesting supplies. Signed by Thomas Rowe as Captain and Thomas Foreman as Commander. The Wasp also participated in coastal skirmishes during the Napoleonic campaigns. Split at folds with prominent tape remains, overall fair. Two pieces.
