EDWIN A. "BUZZ" ALDRIN
(b. 1930) American astronaut and pilot of the Apollo 11 lunar module who walked the Moon with Neil Armstrong. A set of three pieces including a first day cover honoring the safe return of the Apollo 11 astronauts issued by the Vatican with July 24, 1969 cancellations, boldly signed by Aldrin at the bottom right. Together with a first day cover commemorating the launch of Apollo 11, with July 16, 1969 cancellations and signed by Aldrin in blue ink at center. Also with his signature on the verso of a postcard bearing a 10 cent "FIRST MAN ON THE MOON" stamp, cancelled on Sept. 9, 1969, the first day of issue as well as the date of the moon landing, July 20, 1969. Three pieces in fine condition.
