(1841 - 1910) King of Great Britain and Ireland, eldest son of Queen Victoria who because of his indiscretions was kept in the dark concerning matters of state until he succeeded to the throne following his mother's death. His reign was marked by more openness and visibility of the royal family. A.L.S. "Albert Edward" as Prince of Wales, 2pp. 8vo. on Marlborough House letterhead, [London], Feb. 7, 1877 to Lady Roslyn thanking her for her "...kind letter & I am so glad to him [?] that you approve of my scheme for the [?] Hospitals...". Offered with original transmittal envelope addressed in Edward's hand. Light uneven toning, else very good.
