(1841 - 1910) King of Great Britain and Ireland, eldest son of Queen Victoria who because of his indiscretions was kept in the dark concerning matters of state until he succeeded to the throne following his mother's death. His reign was marked by more openness and visibility of the royal family. A lot of two A.L.S. "Albert Edward", the first 2pp. 12mo., Marleborough House, ["Thursday", n.d.], on black-bordered mourning letterhead for his mother, Queen Victoria, to the Countess of Rosslyn, in part: "...It is very kind of you writing to inquire after me...I am much better...". With the original holograph envelope. Along with another A.L.S. on his personal correspondence card, 2pp. 12mo., to Lady Rosslyn again, sending thanks for an invitation. With original envelope. Finally, included is a letter by ADELAIDE, wife of King William IV, 2pp. 12mo., [n.p., n.d.], friendly content. Tipped to another sheet. Three items, overall very good condition.
