Description:

EDWARD VII
(1841 - 1910) King of Great Britain and Ireland, eldest son of Queen Victoria who because of his indiscretions was kept in the dark concerning matters of state until he succeeded to the throne following his mother's death. His reign was marked by more openness and visibility of the royal family. A gigantic S.P. "Edward R & I 1905" signed in the margin, 13 3/4 x 17 1/4" sepia on a 22 x 25" mount, a great bust portrait of the king signed and dated by him on the mount. Photograph by W & D Downey of London. Moderate dampstaining throughout, some very minor chips to margin of photograph and mount. Overall very good condition. A monumental piece worthy of restoration.
