Putnam, New York, 1850, boldly signed"Fred'k Douglass" on the front flyleaf. A later bookplate is applied tothe front pastedown, covers worn and stained, spine worn with hinges almostbroken, contents a bit foxed. Douglass' pre-war signature is rare; his signedbooks are almost non-existent. $2,000 - 3,000
