(Death Of Jesse James) A report upon the death of Jesse James appearing in the pictorial weekly Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, New York, Apr. 15, 1882, 15pp. Headed "The Death A Notorious Desperado", the story reads in part: "...The most notorious outlaw in the country met his death last week when Jesse James, leader of the gang of train robbers who had become a terror to travelers in the far west, was shot by Robert Ford, a beardless boy of twenty...." There follows a very detailed, step-by-step accounting of the murder. Also in the issue appears a full page illustration of the hous in which He was killed, as well as local and foreign news, woodblock engravings, etc.
