Description:

1235. WILLIAM "BILL" DAWSON (1925-1977) Conservative American illustrator and political cartoonist. A fine collection of four original pen and ink illustrations, each measuring 14 1/2" x 17" (approx.), on the upheaval in Cuba dating between 1958 to 1962. All were published in the Washington Post. The first prophetically illustrates the situation of Cuba in 1958 showing Batista in the top portion of a large hourglass with the sands dropping into the bottom, or "All Out Revolt". The others criticize Castro's ties to the Soviets and the danger of communism "seeping" into the balance of Latin America. Margins bear some moderate foxing and a few tears, light soiling, otherwise very good. $300-400
