(1813 - 1891) Union admiral who received the surrenders of Forts Jackson and St. Philip, and was indispensable in the siege and subsequent Union victory at Vicksburg. War-date L.S. 1p. 4to., Cairo, Ill., Nov. 4, 1862, to H. Walke, U.S.N., in part: "...You will please furnish a convoy from Helena to Vicksburg for the prisoners on board the transport Steamer 'Maria Denning'...". Fine condition, handsomely matted in burgundy with a portrait and biographical plaque and set into a rich gilt frame.
