DAVID BEN-GURION (1886 - 1973) Israeli politician, proclaimed the independence of Israel in 1948, headed the provisional government, and was later Prime Minister. T.L.S. on letterhead of The Winthrop Hotel on Lexington Ave., 1p. 8vo., New York, May 19, 1942, to Jacob Greenberg, in part: "...Thank you so much for your message of sympathy...". Written while Ben-Gurion was head of The Jewish Agency, and four days before the Biltmore Conference, during which The Biltmore Program, calling for the fulfillment of the Balfour Declaration and urging the establishment of Palestine, was concretized. The program reiterated Zionists' demands for unrestricted Jewish immigration to Palestine. Folds, one foxed spot, very good condition.
