CONTRIBUTIONS TO PURCHASE CLOTHES FOR BEDRAGGLED SOUTHERN SOLDIERS
War-date Southern citizens contribution document appealing to their region's sense of patriotism to help clothe their soldiers, 1p. folio, [Buffalo, S. C.], Oct. 24, 1861, in part: "We the undersigned promise to pay to the Treasurer of the Buffalo Soldier's Aid Society the sum set opposite our names…for the purpose of procuring suitable clothing for Capt. Taggart's Company [G, 14th South Carolina] …many of the soldiers are already needy and unless their wants are speedily attended to they must suffer. The cause is a noble one and the ladies therefore earnestly call upon all to contribute liberally…". Followed by a list of many loyal citizens who contributed over twenty-three dollars to the cause. Typical wear else quite good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items are not shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arrange through the auction house.
