Description:

CONFEDERATE PRISONER SEEKS MONEY FROM A FAMILY MEMBER, ALSO A PRISONER
Interesting Confederate P.O.W. letter, 1p. 4to., Fort Delaware, Feb. 9, 1864 in which Henry C. Bradford writes Provost Marshal Capt. Patterson at the Union prison at Point Lookout, in part: "...I rec'd a letter last evening from Hill C. Bradford (a prisoner in your charge) informing me that you had in your possession a sum of money belonging to me...I will get the Gen'l to approve this note and by forwarding the amt. you will oblige...". On the verso appears an A.E.S. of Union Brig. Gen. ALBIN F. SCHOEPF (1822 - 1886) Union brigadier general who fought Zollicoffer three times, led a division at Perryville, and later commanded the prison at Fort Delaware. He writes: "Examined and approved. A. Schoepf. B Genl". Very good.
