Cockrell" on U.S. Senate Chamber letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, Aug. 1881, to a Belmont Perry who has written requesting a war-date document as a souvenir. In large part: "When I was captured at Blakely Ala. about dark on April 9, 1865 all my official papers, orders &c. were delivered to my Captors and I have not the Scratch of a pen of any orders &c. issued by me in the army..."
