Description:

Fascinating, very good quality BASF 'performance I' 90 minute cassette (45 minutes per side), completely filled with music and some rambling thoughts by Charles Manson, recorded by him while in prison. This recording was apparently made while Manson was being held at Vacaville, California and contains a wide variety of music, from folksy blues, riffs, scat singing (of a sort), and recitations to what many today would call light rock. Some of the music is also simply stream-of-thought rambling, and quite revealing as to Manson's thoughts about prison, love, loneliness, etc. This was clearly recorded by him in his cell, as other inmates, music and television can be heard in the background. Both sides of the tape are labeled in what appears to be Manson's hand: 'CM #1 A' and 'CM #2 A'. The tape has not been listened-to completely, so it may contain some extraordinary additional content. This tape was given by Manson to his biographer, NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who had once been jailed with and later befriended Manson. He co-wrote 'Manson in His Own Words' after extensive, long-term interviews with Manson in prison. The tape has been tested and functions flawlessly. Sold as-is, as the tape can be reproduced. The music is believed to be, but not warranted, unique and not dubbed to the cassette. Copyright status unknown, thus transfer not guaranteed.
