Description:

Very rare good quality 45 minute cassette tape completely filled with music and some rambling thoughts by Charles Manson, recorded by him while in prison. This recording was made over a pre-recorded commercial recording of Mexican guitarist Jorge Santana, brother of Carlos Santana. Manson, probably tired of listening to this selection, repurposed the tape while he was being held at Vacaville, California. It contains a wide variety of music, including folk, blues, melodic compositions, scat singing (of a sort), and recitations to what many today would call light rock. Some of the music is also simply stream-of-thought rambling, and quite revealing as to Manson's thoughts about prison, love, loneliness, etc. This was clearly recorded by him in his cell, as other inmates, music and television can be heard in the background. The cover of the cassette case has been initialed by Manson: 'C. M.' The tape has not been listened-to completely, so it may contain some extraordinary additional content. This tape was given by Manson to his biographer, NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who had once been jailed with and later befriended Manson. He co-wrote 'Manson in His Own Words' after extensive, long-term interviews with Manson in prison. Emmons has added a few notes to one side of the tape as well. The tape has been tested and functions flawlessly. Sold as-is, as the tape can be reproduced. The music is believed to be, but not warranted, unique and not dubbed to the cassette. Copyright status unknown, thus transfer not guaranteed.
