CHARLES M. SCHWAB(1862 - 1939) American industrialist, President of Carnegie Steel who sold the firm to J. P. Morgan and then headed Morgan's new firm, United States Steel. He resigned to establish Bethlehem Steel, and was later ruined in the 1929 Crash. Important T.L.S., 1p. 4to., September 25, 1918 on United States Shipping Board Emergency Fleet Corporation letterhead, as Schwab at the time presided as Director General of that emergency shipping effort, to aviation pioneer, convicted murderer and known forger Henry Woodhouse, at the time serving as managing editor of Flying Magazine in New York. In part:"...Commemoration of the Fifteenth Anniversary of the first Aeroplane flight is indeed fitting in view of the remarkable aeronautical progress of recent years and the vital part played by aircraft in the present war...Indirectly the United States Shipping Board Emergency Fleet Corporation is concerned in the production of aircraft in that ships, up to the present time, afford the only means of getting the completed planes to the battleline...".
