CHARLES A. LINDBERGH
(1902 - 1974) American aviator who, in his "Spirit of St. Louis", was the first to fly solo non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean. His book, The Wartime Journals of Charles A. Lindbergh, (New York: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, Inc. 1970) xx, 1038pp., 8vo., first edition. Bound in blue cloth boards with dustjacket. Signed and inscribed "To Heinz Friedler with best wishes, Charles A. Lindbergh" on the title page. Additionally signed by Lindbergh's youngest daughter, REEVE LINDBERGH (b. 1945). Greta and her husband Heinz Friedler worked in an undetermined capacity (likely domestic help) for Juan Trippe, the founder of Pan American Airways and a close business partner of Lindbergh. Offered with several letters and cards from the Friedler family. Some edge chipping and tears to dust jacket, pages overall quite clean. Boards and binding intact, overall fine condition.
